Getting a group of skateboarders out to China is no easy task. Feeling a little precarious upon waiting for my flight, I did what a lot of men would do in a moment of uncertainty. I had a drink. And it helped. Rory and I took the discount flight out there to save about $300. Risk your life and save a few bucks, alright let’s go! We both haven’t worked in a year or something so we felt this would be the best thing to do. Anyways, the food was shit and I didn’t sleep a wink. As I’m settled in my seat I realize my fucking headphone jack was busted so I couldn’t watch movies. Does anybody else feel this merits a free flight? Total airtime to Hong Kong exceeds 13 hours, not to mention all the other waiting-time before! Luckily Fulber was nice enough to lend me an earphone as we then watched a movie we’d both already seen.









So there was really no need for the drink. But the drink was delicious! We arrived and everyone was there including our translator Will. Everything was smooth. I hadn’t seen Reeves in three years so I was super excited to catch-up and go skate. Dan was being a kook right off the start and I remember wanting to drop the guy. Teddy D was on thin ice with the group. He’d recently been vacationing on past two trips so we decided it was his final shot. ‘Three strikes and Teddy D’s out!’ So everyone said their hello’s and hopped an express to Shenzhen.







Our hotel was super basic: you got two beds, a TV and a pretty sick AC setup with remote which was definitely mandatory. All for the extremely low price of $15 CDN/night each. If you would like to be rich, go to China. Take everything in your bank and multiply by eight. So if you have $1000 in your bank, you have eight G’s in China! What does that mean for booze? You get drunk for really cheap. Let’s go party, wheeew!







I’m going to make this brief and say we fucking killed it! Teddy D perhaps skated more than anybody else! To my suprise we were in the van around 9 o’clock every morning on route to some first-class paradise spot. Dan held team meetings almost everyday and designed effecient driving routes. Did I mention while it was cold and rainy back in Vancouver it was sunny and hot in Shenzhen? Temperatures ranged between 18 and 25 on the daily. While you guys were getting high watching skate videos we were slamming Tsingsoa and hanging out at the spa getting bathed in ivory-milk hot tubs. Shenzhen was that good. Thanks Will for everything, you're the man! And thanks Mr.Caissie for coming out. Next year we’ll be Platinum members at the spa.
